Step 1
Start by cutting your cellophane into rectangles. I like to use a 6” x 8” size, which is easy to fill and still fits comfortably in my hand.
Step 2
Looking at your cello rectangle, find a spot about 1/3 of the way along the long edge. That spot will be the tip of your cone.
Hold that spot between your thumb and finger, like a gentle pinch. I suggest using your non-dominant hand to hold that spot. Then, with your dominant hand, grab the corner of that same side. You should now have one hand holding a spot at the 1/3 mark of the long edge, and your other hand holding the corner furthest away but also on the same long edge.
Step 3
With your dominant hand holding that corner, begin rolling upward. As you roll, keep the cello taut by pulling on it slightly. Continue rolling while maintaining just a small amount of pressure on the tip of the cone with your other (non-dominant) hand.
Step 4
Once you have almost fully rolled the cone, there will be a small “tab” leftover. Use a small piece of tape and apply it horizontally across the tab to tape the cone together. Then, apply a couple more pieces of tape to the seams. You’re ready to go!
On a final note, this does take a lot of practice for most people. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t get it right immediately. Your cone might not roll very tight, or it might be huge. These are really common issues. Just keep practicing, and you’ll get it!
